She’s looking for a future without restraints. He left his dreams behind in search of a new beginning. Can this irresistible woman and unstoppable man build a future together?

Lucas Kovak never imagined leaving his life as a Navy SEAL and the adrenaline-pumping existence he’d come to love. Yet a few years after losing his best friend on an overseas mission, he finds himself patrolling the back roads of Brilliance, Wyoming, as a deputy sheriff, handing out speeding tickets and resolving occasional family disputes. The one bright spot is his growing friendship with a woman searching for her own new start.

Tiffany Aldrich left her restrictive life back east to join her sister on Kicking Horse Ranch, hoping the change will provide the new beginning she craves. An excellent horsewoman, she’s never before been tasked with the physical work of mucking stalls. She’s surprised at the pleasure the simple chores offer. More surprising is the friendship developing with the new deputy.

However, the growing relationship isn’t as easy as either expects.

Her vegetarian leanings clash with his love of a hearty steak. She thrives on upscale social functions and loves dressing up, while he’s a jeans and t-shirt guy, dressing up only when required. And while she’s drawn to his steadfast integrity, she worries his black and white views on law and order may not align with her more reformist preferences.

Adding to their growing list of differences is the unexpected appearance of relationships from their pasts. While the arrival of Tiffany’s ex-boyfriend causes a minor threat, Lucas’s former girlfriend creates a deeper challenge.

The Cowboy’s Broken Dream, book nine in the Cowboys of Whistle Rock Ranch Contemporary Western Romance series, is a clean and wholesome, full-length novel with an HEA and no cliffhanger.

As Tiffany and Lucas try and determine the direction their lives are going it is inspiring to see them making wise choices that are the best direction for them. It’s also great to ‘see’ old friends in this series and how they are continuing on!

The Cowboys Broken Dream (Cowboys of Whistle Rock Ranch) by Shirleen Davies is the Cowboys of Whistle Rock Ranch Book 9. This is not so much a broken dream as it is a change in dreams for Lucas who has retired from the military. No longer being a Navy SEAL is a much calmer lifestyle for him even as he is now a duty in the small of Brilliance, Wyoming.

Tiffany Aldrich is also at a directional change for her life. No longer the glamor if controlling life with her parents she has move west to join her sister, Amanda, at the Kicking Horse Ranch. Amanda’s story is in The Cowboy’s Simple Solution. The meddling parents do not actually make an appearance in this book but still manage to send a nuisance Tiffany’s way.

This clean wholesome story has everyday police problems, one mystery from an earlier story solved and a couple trying to find their new way in life. Along that way a friendship forms that has a sweet romance to enjoy reading. There is the introduction of a new member to the area that I couldn’t decide it I liked him or not. It is a bit of a mystery as to whether he will be a good or bad guy. Will need to keep reading the series to find out about him.

Lucas and Tiffany are attracted to each other. There is an age gap and they come from different social backgrounds. There are many up and down situations happening throughout the book. They both struggle aware of their differences wondering if they could make it work. Their friendship grows in a great relationship as they overcome their differences and medical challenges. Enjoyed the read. Thanks for the ARC.

Lucas and Tiffany are both at a crossroads in their lives. Lucas is settling into his life in Brilliance and starting to look forward to the next chapter in his life – marriage and a family. Tiffany came to Brilliance to help out her sister and to get away from the expectations of her parents which don’t really align with what she wants in life. Both characters have to decide which traits of the other are most important – their positive traits or their differences. It was also great to catch up with some of the other characters and get a hint of what’s to come next.

Leaving his life as a Navy SEAL, Lucas Kovak has moved to Brilliance, Wyoming as a deputy sheriff. He had a friend there who knew about the loss of Lucas’s best friend and how he was dealing with it so he had someone to talk to if needed. Tiffany Aldrich is now living with her sister Amanda and her family on the Kicking Horse Ranch. She was used to living in a large city and enjoyed dressing up but is now ready for a chance to live a slower life. She is working at finding a new job but is having trouble finding one but in the meantime is helping on the ranch. She has now met Lucas and they formed a friendship very quickly but being from two different ways of life, could it become more than just friends? As they find they enjoy spending time together, something happens to Tiffany showing Lucas is there for her no matter what. A great story.

Another fine read. I love the way Shirleen makes you feel as if you live right in Brilliance, along with whole cast of characters in her books… or at least wish you lived there. Country life, in a not-so-small town, (I would guess somewhere like 50,000, like the town I live in. Going by the number of restaurants, deputies etc.)
Lucas, an ex-SEAL, and now deputy… and Tiffany, young, from an upper crust Vermont family, searching for her place in life. Both struggle with their attraction to each other, coming up with reasons not to pursue, until their reasons disappear. In the meantime, we have incursions of other interested individuals, mysterious illness and criminal activity.

Lucas left the military and ended up in Brilliance starting work as a deputy, whilst Tiffany came to see her sister and decided to stay leaving demanding parents behind. Here at least she could choose her future if she could find a job. So she worked in the ranch to help her sister and so did Lucas in his spare time.
They were opposites can the find common ground or will the past intervene.
    Get reading and enjoy!

The Cowboys Broken Dream is the Cowboys of Whistle Rock Ranch Book 9 by Shirleen Davies. The cowboy, Lucas Kovak, is a retired Navy Seal, who has relocated to Brilliance, Wyoming to become a deputy sheriff. Tiffany Aldrich has come to stay with her older sister after finding herself disenchanted with her restrictive life back east, and she longs to build the life that she wants for herself. Lucas and Tiffany find themselves to be kindred souls of a sort and slowly build a deep friendship. Will their fundamental differences be too deep to overcome or will they build something greater than either of them has ever had?

This clean romance features some nice policework in a small western town, some heartwarming glimpses in an animal shelter, a heroic solution to a mystery from a previous book, an unexpected illness, and a couple of new characters that pique my interest in books to come! It really held my interest throughout and left me wanting more. Tiffany really grew on me. She has hidden depths!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

What happens when you come to help your sister on the ranch, getting away from the meddling parents, looking for change and meeting the deputy sheriff…read on for Tiffany and Lucas’s story of opposites on so many levels but they might they belong together…

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

    GAIL KOVACH –

A Sweet Clean Romance! Tiffany needed a change, so she moved west to help her sister at Kicking Horse Ranch in Wyoming. And, boy, did she get a change! No more glamorous life or meddling parents, but that was OK because she loved working with the horses and helping her sister with little Marcus. Lucas left the life of a Navy seal after a tragic overseas mission, but he’s now deputy sheriff in Brilliance, Wyoming. Lucas saw Tiffany as a spoiled city girl. Tiffany couldn’t fall for Lucas, handsome as he was, not when she’d sworn off men after her ex’s betrayal. Besides, they had very little in common.
I enjoyed the sweet, clean romance that starts with Tiffany and Lucas becoming friends. I was also happy to learn of the long-awaited details on Jerod’s secret work from a previous book.
Tiffany has several decisions to make, most importantly, will she take a great job offer in another town even though she enjoys her sister’s family and Lucas? As a health crisis arises, will it draw Tiffany and Lucas closer together of push them farther apart?
I recommend “The Cowboy’s Broken Dream” as well as the entire “Cowboys of Whistle Rock Ranch series”. I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.

    Jill Eshenbaugh –

Not only do Lucas and Tiffany come from different backgrounds, there is a six year age difference. Lucas wonders if their relationship can sustain those differences, he loves beef, she’s a vegetarian. She loves getting dressed up and attending fancy parties, Lucas would rather sit and watch the scenery. Still though there are differences the electricity hums between them. A medical crisis will bring their emotions to the forefront and they’ll be forced to decide if they want to move forward.

Its another sweet romance from Ms Davies who takes us back to the quirky town of Brillance. The characters remind the reader of the people next door which makes for an easy and fun read.

Lucas and Tiffany are friends who are starting to feel more for each other. But they have differences and are not sure who and what they want. He thinks he has more in common with his ex and she might be moving away for work. Just because Tiffany doesn’t eat steak it doesn’t make her a vegetarian. She ate plenty of fish and chicken and with the disease she is diagnosed with probably affected the type of foods she would enjoy. Lucas pulls her in and pushes her away until there’s a crisis. Unlike Lucas, Tiffany may have enjoyed the finer things in life but she also enjoys nature and the hard work of the ranch. I loved that she started volunteering at the animal shelter, although I would have struggled to not want to adopt one.

    Lisa Parker –

Lucas is a retired SEAL who loved it so much that he had planned to remain there until he retired. However, a few years ago, when he lost his best friend on a mission, he decides it is time to move on and change his life. He moves to Brilliance, Wyoming where he becomes a deputy sheriff.

Tiffany and her sister, Amanda, grew up with her rich family in the city in the life of luxury. However, Amanda married and moved her family to a working ranch in Brilliance. When Amanda’s husband dies, Tiffany decides to visit her sister and help her with the ranch and her son. Tiffany loves the freedom of her new life on the ranch so much that she decides to stay in Brilliance and not return to her unhappy life with her parents.

It is at her sister’s ranch that Tiffany meets Lucas. They have an immediate attraction and are obviously infatuated with each other. They spend a lot of time with each other until they both realize that they have very little in common. Tiffany is a vegetarian and much younger and more naïve than at Tiffany. She likes to dress up and go to parties.

Lucas lived most of his life as a tough, hard-working SEAL. He is very worldly and older than Tiffany. His favorite food is a hearty steak. He likes to spend his free time informally in jeans and t-shirts. He always goes out informally in jeans and t-shirt.

Eventually, the two of them are very confused about their differences in the way they view life, law and order, and other strong differences. They are confused by their feelings and their differences. Will their attraction for each other be strong enough to overcome their differences and allow them to become a happily, loving couple? Or will these challenges and their complicated thoughts make it impossible for them to stay together?

Readers will enjoy reading the challenging thoughts of this loving, caring, gentle couple as they root for them to happily overcome their troublesome different personalities.

The Cowboy’s Broken Dream. I was looking to reading Tiffany’s story and this did not disappoint. Tiffany and Lucas are two different people does their past love make them miss who they thought were perfect for them or will they choose “love” with all their differences. This is a great stand-alone story. Highly recommend!

Opposites attract romance. Lucas is an ex navy seal and Tiffany is from a family with money. As they both try and move on from their pasts, they connect with each other in Brilliance. However, they both need to compromise to overcome their differences so that their relationship can develop into something more.
